GTA 5 Enhanced is here for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players to enjoy. However, there’s one question being asked by a lot of GTA Online players: Can PS5 and Xbox Series X|S play with last-gen? The answer to this question will no doubt help players decide whether or not to invest in the next-gen version or stay behind to play with friends on last-gen. Here’s the need-to-know information about GTA 5 Enhanced cross-play support.
Can GTA 5 Enhanced next-gen players join last-gen multiplayer sessions?
GTA 5 Enhanced PS5 and PS4 cross-play support
Unfortunately, GTA 5 Enhanced PS5 players can’t join the same session as PS4 players.
For GTA 5 PS5 and PS4 cross-play to work, the PS5 players will need to have the non-Expanded and Enhanced version installed. Obviously, this will mean downgrading performance, but the sacrifice will be worth it for those looking to play with friends who are still playing on last-gen systems.
GTA 5 Enhanced Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One cross-play support
Cross-play is not supported between GTA 5 Enhanced Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
This means that Xbox Series X|S players using the enhanced version of the game won’t be able to play with those on Xbox One. While this will disappoint those hoping to enjoy the new presentation overhaul, while still playing with friends on last-gen, it’s thankfully still possible to download the last-gen version on Xbox Series X|S to continue playing in last-gen sessions.
Obviously, in a perfect world, Expanded and Enhanced players would be able to both enjoy the new visual improvements while still playing with last-gen players, but that’s not currently supported.
